Sean Mason Trio Opens Two Nights at Sharp 9, Oct. 30 2026

The trio opens a two-night run at Sharp 9 Gallery with State of the Art, Mason's newest album on his own label, Taylor Christian Records. Across the record, the band moves through swing, post-bop, soul, and contemporary groove, including the latest singles "Secure the Bag" and "A Good Day," all captured in a single, unrepeatable session with no more than two takes per song, a deliberate choice that pushed the band to lean on instinct over perfection.

On stage, that same lineup, Sean Mason on piano, Felix Moseholm on bass, and Domo Branch on drums, brings that same spontaneity to a live audience, giving listeners the rare chance to hear the album's material shaped in real time by the very musicians who created it in the studio.

Before you come

The Sean Mason Trio takes the stage at 7:00 PM, so plan to arrive early and settle in before the music starts. Tickets range from $20 to $35, plus fees. Sharp 9's intimate, café-table setting means there's no bad seat in the house, so come ready to feel every note up close.

About Sean Mason

A Grammy nomination, chart placements on both JazzWeek and the NACC jazz charts, and performances at rooms like Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Monterey Jazz Festival, SFJAZZ, Ronnie Scott's, Bimhuis, and Blue Note Milano: Sean Mason's résumé as a pianist, composer, and bandleader speaks for itself. He's also earned a Bistro Award, a Bessie Award, and recognition as a Steinway Artist, all while building a catalog, including The Southern Suite, A Breath of Fresh Air, and his newest release, “State of the Art”, through Taylor Christian Records, the label he founded to release his own music.
